I just came across your post! Its wonderful that ya'll are implementing Balanced Literacy! My mother is from Orange Walk Town, Belize and she attended La Inmaculada and Palutti High School. She is currently a coordinator of bilingual programs in Houston TX, for Spring Independent School District. She has trained reading specialists in both English and Spanish. She is also very well trained in Balanced Literacy and does the trainings for her school district too. I know it is her dream to give back to Belize, who has given her so very much. Her name is Maria Alcoser Gamboa. She is the sister of Lucio Alcoser (Lucio & The New Generation), Armando (Super Furia) and Francisco (Pancho) Alcoser.
